materials: pencil, acrylic paint, pen, markers, scissor, glue, paper A4
process: Pencil was used to draw a pelican, jar, and blackberry. Acrylic paint mixed with water flooded the scene, and painted the entire background blue. Then came collage. Drawings made with a blue pen were cut using scissors, then glued. This included: a flower, a pen drawing containing a faraway heron, a heron close up, and an intuitive cutout made from scissoring a drawing into a bird’s shape. It came to be that the bird in the center looked muted and muffled. To make the bird pop out and be striking, swirls were doodled on in pen. Token spirals touch the background. In a final touch: green, wavy, acrylic paint cutouts sprinkle the work, weaving it together.
