ten wildflowers

year of creation: 2024-2026

materials: acrylic paint, linocut ink, linocut print, paper, scissors, glue

process: This work started with painting acrylic on golden A4 papers, turning them white and blue, then cutting them up into wavy strips with a flat edge on every strip. The position of these waves were shuffled around, then glued in an order satisfactory. Waves were placed from the top of the A3 black paper, some from the bottom, and six pieces overlapped in the center. A casual sketch of a flower from a 2024 university sketchbook, was cut and glued down in the middle. Outer parts of this flower were trimmed, then these funky, bent shapes was glued down to reach out from the flower. Having enjoyed gluing circles into the middle of A3 collages during 2025, some being wrld, ace wands, king wings… The realization hit that a circle works like an anchor, and it is extremely satisfying way to build up collages. Therefore, a circle was traced into the A3 paper’s center, instead of glueing it on, to preserve that which would be underneath. The purple background was created by cutting countless minuscule leaves from linocut prints that were hand printed with purple ink on golden paper. Leaves reaching from the center of the paper demonstrate impact. Furthermore, the original artwork of day wands was cut up into flowers, leaves, and wavy strips, and these flowers were stuck onto the representation of Earth, the leaves towards the outer edges.
