process: This artwork began in red acrylic paint marker, taking inspiration from flowers in the botanical gardens to fill up the entire canvas. This canvas full of flowers in red and white presented an irresistible opportunity, to color in the work.

“Your life is like a garden. Your thoughts, and the things that grow in your life is like a garden. It’s like a wonderful, beautiful garden. And only you can make it grow. Your time, and the attention you put to the things you want to grow in the garden of your life, is what makes things grow… It’s not important for you and beneficial to you, to think on negative things, and to think on negative energy. That’s what you’re giving growth to. You really have the ability to think about things that push you forward… Any negative thought; the garden of your life is what grows based on what you put your attention to. It’s like the sunlight and water that makes things grow. The attention that you put on it and the meditating, the breathing, the thought process, the listening to it, the taking it into your eyes. You have to reject all those types of things” (6:11-6:56).
“It’s time to believe. Stand on a solid foundation of belief as to who you are. Stand on a solid foundation of belief that connects you with god. And the only thing that will bring that forth is taking time to think about that, to meditate on that, to be working toward that. That’s what would allow you to bring forth, it’s the time you spend with it right? And the things you talk about that” (18:18-18:38).
