process: Starting as a sketch in pencil, this work of Maat was named in honor of Maatkare. Maatkare is one of Hatshepsut’s names, translating to : Maat is the soul of Ra. Maat is truth and justice. Tempera paint embued the initial background and acrylic paint begun to build a depiction of Maat. Modeling paste provided plenty depth. Similarly, hot glue was worked everywhere to add texture, creating the hair, that was drawn over in marker. Modeling paste was used to lock a rock inside one of the planets seen above. Posca pen, oil paint, oil pastel, and even crushed rocks were all merged in.
