seven wings

year of creation: 2025
materials: acrylic paint, scissors, glue, paper A3
process: A4 papers were painted in acrylic to have interesting gradients, then cut into wavy strips. These strips were first glued down as blue-green flames rising up out of the black A3 paper’s bottom. Screenshots of seagulls were captured from a longer video, then silhouettes of these hawks of the sea were drawn onto the background. Wavy strips were built up further, placed to come out of all edges of the A3 paper, alongside the further addition of seagulls. Three spirals were cut out of one swirly posca pen doodle, then glued in the center. One seagull, in the top right, was made by cutting a painted paper in the shape of a seagull, then sticking that down over the collage. Six of seven seagulls that were crafted into this work, blend smoothly into the background. This is because the color scheme is cool in tone, with blue, green, and purple.
