Hawks of the Sea

process: Sheets of A4 paper were painted in acrylic, to form interesting gradients, that were cut into wavy strips. These strips, blue-green flames, were first glued to be rising up out the bottom of the A3 paper. Screenshots of seagulls were taken from a video, then silhouettes of these (hawks of the sea) were drawn onto the background. Wavy strips were further built, then glued to emanate from the border of the A3 paper, into the center. Along with the further addition of seagulls, three spirals were cut of one swirly posca pen doodle, then glued in the center. One seagull, visible in the top right, was made by cutting a painted paper into the shape of a seagull, then sticking that down over the collage itself. Six of seven seagulls crafted into this work, blend smoothly with the background, due to the color scheme being cool in tone, with blue, green, and purple.
